Notification of Scientific Research Achievements: Master's Student Qi's Research Results Published on ECRA
In July 2022, our master's student Zhiyuan Qi and his supervisor Prof. Dongyu Chen, in collaboration with Prof. Jennifer Xu (Bentley University), published their paper "Do facial images matter? Understanding the role of private information disclosure in crowdfunding markets" on Electronic Commerce Research and Applications (ECRA). ECRA is an SCI journal in the field of management science and information system with an impact factor of 5.622 in 2021.
Based on privacy calculus theory and social stigma theory, this paper aims to explore how privacy concerns affect an individual's willingness to reveal private information and how others judge such information disclosure. This paper demonstrates that individuals with lower economic and social status are more willing to voluntarily disclose private information (facial images), but the act of voluntarily disclosing privacy decreases loan success. The findings of this paper have implications for understanding voluntary privacy disclosure behavior in the crowdfunding market.
Zhiyuan Qi is a second-year master's student at Business school, Soochow University. He received a Bachelor of Economics degree from Soochow University in 2020. Zhiyuan Qi's research interests include Fintech, Crowdfunding, and Digital Finance.
