Notification of Scientific Research Achievements: Dr. Meng CHEN’s Research Results Published in Authoritative Journal IMM

In April 2022, Dr. Meng Chen’s paper, entitled “Managerial ties: How much do they matter for organizational agility?” was published in Industrial Marketing Management (IMM). This paper is co-authored by Mengru Zhang and Prof. Hefu Liu (University of Science and Technology of China) and Dr. Xinlin Tang (Florida State University). IMM is an ABS-3 ranked journal with an impact factor of 6.96.

This paper explores the influence of managerial ties, a specific type of nonmarket strategy, on organizational agility. In a constantly changing business environment, firms are becoming increasingly dependent on organizational agility for survival and success. Grounded on the social exchange theory, this research examines the comparative impacts of political and business ties on organizational agility and the contingent roles of competition intensity and legal enforceability. It reveals how competition intensity and legal enforceability reshape the impact difference between political and business ties on organizational agility. The findings provide new insights into the strategic utilization of political and business ties to achieve organizational agility in emerging economies. This research is supported by the National Key R&D Program of China [grant number (2018YFB1601401)] and the National Natural Science Foundation of China [grant numbers (72001155 and 72102116)].
