On 20 December, Jiangsu Private Economy High Quality Development Seminar was held in Suzhou. With the theme of ‘stimulating the innovation and vitality of private economy and helping to develop new quality productivity’, the meeting attracted hundreds of entrepreneurs, experts and scholars to gather and seek a new chapter for the high-quality development of Jiangsu's private economy. Liu Xiaotao, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Committee, Hu Guangjie, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, Zhang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Soochow University, and Ying Hanjie, President of Soochow University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were present. The meeting was hosted by Feng Bo, President of Jiangsu New Era Private Economic Research Institute and Dean of Soochow University Business School.

Chen Jianhua, Chairman of Jiangsu New Era Private Economic Research Institute, Chairman and President of Hengli Group, said in his speech that Hengli Group, as the first batch of private enterprises in Suzhou, could not develop without the spirit of Su Shang, which is ‘Dare to be the first and do practical work to build up a nation’. It is generation after generation of Suzhou businessmen dare to be first, do the work of the state, in order to hit the ‘Made in Jiangsu’ gold reputation. He called on the majority of private entrepreneurs to rely on new technologies, open up new tracks, activate new kinetic energy, around the ecological green development, scientific and technological innovation to lead the digital intelligent transformation of the three key aspects of the force, and jointly promote the Jiangsu economy to achieve high-quality development.

Zhang Xiaohong said in his speech that the Jiangsu New Era Private Economy Research Institute is the first professional institution in Jiangsu province to study the theory and practice of private economy. Since the Institute settled in Soochow University, the school has continued to strengthen team building, condensing research direction, carry out consulting services, and achieved phased results, there are 20 research reports approved by the provincial party committee and provincial government leaders, 9 results were adopted by the Central Finance Office, the State Office of the creation of the second generation of the ‘Fire Mentor’ project plan and other brand activities are brilliant. Suzhou University will continue to support the project. Soochow University will continue to support the construction and development of the Institute, and strive to build the Institute into a new high ground of the national private economy research.

At the meeting, Jiangsu New Era Private Economy Research Institute 2024 Annual Decision-making Consultation, Research Outstanding Achievement Award Ceremony was held. Six reports, including ‘Suggestions for Building a New Development Pattern of China's “One Belt, One Road” Offshore Economic and Trade Co-operation Zones’, won the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award for Decision-Making Consultation, and six reports, including ‘Research and Thoughts on Enhancing the Effectiveness of Jiangsu's Private Economy Policies’, won the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award for Subjects. Liu Jun, Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Group of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Ying Hanjie, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Soochow University, respectively awarded the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award for Decision-making Consultation and Subject Research to the Jiangsu Institute of Private Economy in the New Era.

At the symposium, Jiang Xiaojuan, professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and former deputy secretary of the State Council, deeply interpreted the Central Economic Work Conference, pointing out that we should create new opportunities for Chinese-style modernisation and economic development by increasing the policy and enhancing the endogenous momentum; Xu Xianming, vice-president of the Chinese Law Society and member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, made a keynote report on the theme of Chinese-style modernisation and the rule of law, which profoundly revealed the code of the rule of law for Chinese-style modernisation.
